Where we detect apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or conduct that sexualizes a minor, we preserve the relevant content and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement as required by law. Profiling

We use the information that we collect about you for profiling. Profiling is any form of automated processing of personal information consisting of the use of personal information to evaluate certain personal aspects relating to a person, in particular to analyze or predict aspects concerning that person’s performance at work, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behavior, location or movements. We use the following logic to conduct profiling: We collect profile information including the user's age, gender identity, interested gender, and interests. Our automated matching engine analyzes this profile data to dynamically generate personalized conversation starters and to ensure that our tailored local events maintain specific demographic ratios (such as enforcing gender balance or age brackets based on the event's intent)..

Automated decision-making

We use the information that we collect about you for automated individual decision-making. Automated individual decision-making is making a decision solely by automated means without any human involvement. We use the following logic to conduct automated decision-making: We use an automated content moderation API to scan user-uploaded profile pictures and video call snapshots. The system analyzes the image against strict safety thresholds (such as detecting nudity, gore, or the presence of minors). If an image violates these community safety thresholds, the system automatically rejects the upload and may automatically suspend the user's account. Additionally, we use automated spatial algorithms to calculate a user's geolocation to determine which events to display to them.
We also use automated tools to screen the text of messages sent in chat for safety violations — including hate speech, threats, harassment, scams, and sexual content involving minors. Messages that trigger a violation may be blocked, and flagged conversations may be reviewed by our trust & safety team and retained as evidence. We do not use message content for advertising or to train large language models..

Automated photo and video safety analysis

Profile photos and brief still frames from live video calls are analyzed by an automated moderation provider (Sightengine, operated by Kozelo SAS, France) to detect violations such as nudity, weapons, or the apparent presence of a minor — which includes automated face detection and age estimation. This is used only for safety moderation — never to identify you, and never to build a facial-recognition or "faceprint" database. The provider returns classification results to us and is contractually required to delete the images it processes within 90 days; unflagged video frames are deleted automatically on our shorter schedule, and only flagged content is retained for safety review, appeals, and legal reporting. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
